St. Patrick's Cathedral

St. Patrick's Cathedral
St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin, Ireland

St. Patrick’s Cathedral tip: When you look it up online be specific and type St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin, Ireland or it will pull up a different cathedral. You might accidentally buy tickets to the wrong place. There is also a St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York, USA.

This is a quaint cathedral that is visually stunning on the outside as well as the inside. There is beautiful picturesque stained glass windows all along the sides of the cathedral.  Historical information about the church can be found here.

Tip: We chose not to visit on a Sunday because times slots are limited. There will be people worshipping and praying in there, so you will have to walk around them.

You could walk around the inside of the cathedral within 30 minutes, but could easily spend an hour or more depending on how long you’d like to stay.  We spent one hour touring ourselves.  They do offer free guided group tours, but we were on limited time.

Tip: Out of all of the gift shops in Ireland that we stopped at, this one had coolest items, and a large variety to choose from. Whatever you purchase helps to support the cathedral. Some items we found there were warm St. Patrick’s Cathedral sweatshirts, a cute woven lamb magnet, and an Irish claddagh ring. It’s a popular Irish ring with two hands holding a heart. It stands for the meaning of love and friendship.

Outside of the cathedral you will find a nice park to walk around and enjoy the pretty flowers.  You can find a place to relax and listen to the lovely church bells.

Tip: The park is a great place to take photos. The stained glass windows inside of the cathedral makes interesting photos too! It’s definitely the cathedral to visit when in Ireland.
